Loserkids.com

For my intro to fashion class I had to interview someone who has a job that I would one day like to have in the industry. Thanks to my friend Ryan I interviewed Adrienne Westall a graphic designer and woman's buyer for http://Loserkids.com. It is an action sports and music influenced online retailer that sells brands such as Macbeth, Element, Billabong, Kr3w, RVCA, SUPRA, Edmond, Hurley etc. Also Tom Delonge, from the band Blink 182 is one of the owners/ creators of Loserkids.com.

The interview with her gave me a new found appreciation for action sports clothing brands. Before I thought very little of surf and skate brands and thought they had no sense of fashion. However with the interview it helped me realize fashion isn’t a strict law that everyone should abide by. It is a form of expression that each person finds on his or her self. It is created by a person with an urge to express and portray themselves with art and movement through clothing. Everyone has their own form of expression and I value that. I learned a lot from Adrienne and gained assurance that this is what I want to do with my life. To think a year ago I was at Cal State Fullerton studying to be a kindergarten teacher. I decided to move to San Diego to do fashion merchandise instead. That was the smartest move I have ever made. Because fashion is my life, it is my music, it is my love and it is my passion. This is where I belong and this is where I want to be.

San Diego

So i recently moved to San Diego and have realized fashion here is somewhat different than the LA area. People here are way more laid back and it somewhat reflects on their style. The most popular look here are flip flops and action sports clothing. Don't get me wrong that style is not bad at all I'm just making an observation. I will be posting pictures of some of my favorite styles of SD peeps.

Yelle- French Fashion Icon

French Fashionista,Yelle, Julie Budet always looks cute in all the outfits she rocks on stage. I went to the concert at the El Rey Theatre in LA (3-12-09) and snapped some shots of her sporting a retro futuristic gray and gold dress( if anyone knows the designer please tell me!), leggings and high top sneakers. Her energy on stage was great and kept the crowd wanting more. Surprisingly, after the show, the band was very humble and took the time to sign autographs and talk to each of their fans. I definitely recommend this band to anyone who has good taste in fashion and music!

I also took a picture of a snazzy dressed girl in line with a Yelle T and a cheetah print cardigan.

Thrift Store Galore!

Has the economy left you with little spending money for fashionable clothing???? Well check out some local thrift stores in your area for affordable, fashionable clothing. Have you ever heard of the phrase fashion repeats itself? So cut out a clip of a cute outfit from a magazine and recreate the look! If you can't find anything exactly the same just find something similar and tailor it to fit you.

Nylon Wonderland

Spring is here along with new looks that will add color to your wardrobe. This spring crazy printed nylons have splashed in girls closets. Printed nylons have become a must have for individualists looking to make a fashion statement. These have become available at Target, Forever 21 and other clothing stores. Grab a pair for yourself and throw on a high wasted skirt to finish off the look!
